The Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA) has made
available its newly published Floor Covering Installation Training (FIT)
program for tile installation. The Tile Program, which joins the FIT Carpet and
Resilient Programs, will automatically be sent to current program subscribers.
“The FIT Tile program will be a
valuable tool for our FIT subscribers who want to keep their staff up-to-date
in the latest installation practices,” said Christopher Capobianco, FCICA
chairman. “While this will not replace programs already in place from other
organizations, these books and the reference manual will be a great addition to
the available training programs in the industry. Since 1999, we have seen the
FCICA FIT program used by flooring contractors, dealers and technical colleges
and we hope the FIT Tile curriculum will be just as well received as carpet and
resilient were.”
According to Kimberly Oderkirk,
FCICA executive vp, “Due to the generosity of the National Tile Contractors
Association Training and Education Foundation, we didn’t need to reinvent the
wheel; we were able to use their program and were able to update a few items
and reformat it to meet the FIT program guidelines. FCICA is pleased to promote
this standardization of tile installation.”
The Tile program consists of an
instructor binder and two student guides. The 2007 TCA Handbook for Ceramic
Tile Installation has also been included in the instructor binder. A reference
guide is also available for those who do not want to implement a full-scale
training program.
