NWFA releases fall ’08 installation training schedule

The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) has released its schedule of installation training classes for the fall season. The NWFA’s training schools were developed to assist wood flooring professionals in advancing their skills and expertise in all aspects of wood flooring installation.  

Nov. 5-7, Chesterfield (St. Louis), MO – Wood Flooring Makeover – Basic to Advanced

This new three-day school is designed to provide installers with an overview of how to makeover existing wood floors, from a basic pad and recoat to more advanced makeovers such as adding feature strips. Students attending this school will receive one of four moisture meters of their choice and three credits toward an NWFA degree. Topics to be covered:

Pad and recoat

Adding aluminum feature strips

Adding stone medallions

Creating patterned floors  

Oct. 22-24, Phoenix, AZ – Intermediate Installation and Sand and Finish

Nov. 12-14, Minneapolis, MN

This three-day school is designed to provide the practicing professional with hands-on training for installation, sanding and finishing of many different kinds of flooring products. Day one will cover installation, day two will cover sand and finish, and day three will cover finish.  

Oct. 7-11, Chesterfield (St. Louis), MO – Expert Installation

A five-day school designed for the highly experienced wood flooring professional. Learn installation techniques to become master craftsmen in the industry. You will be part of a team that will install a complete entryway with a radius staircase. Other topic covered include: cutting parquet, cutting medallions, bending wood, installing on a radius, free-hand routing, marquetry, stone and brass inlays, job costing for custom work. Qualifications: attendance at NWFA Advanced Installation School.  

Oct. 13-15, Chesterfield (St. Louis), MO – Expert Sand and Finish

This three-day school is designed to meet the needs of highly experienced wood flooring professionals. Topics include: sanding and finishing stairs, sanding and finishing with mixed media, hand brushing finish techniques, hand rolling finish techniques, repairing damaged boards, hand scraping, custom mixing and blending stains, calculating material and costs, and advanced sanding and finishing techniques. Qualifications: minimum three years experience in the industry and attendance at NWFA Intermediate Installation and Sand and Finish School.  

Oct. -15, Chesterfield (St. Louis), MO – Expert Installation and Expert Sand and Finish

This is a combination of the Expert Installation five-day school and the Expert Sand and Finish three-day school. Attend both and receive a price break.
