Two of Mannington Commercial’s carpet backing systems have
been certified to the Sustainable Carpet Assessment Standard, NSF 140-2007e.
Mannington’s UltraBac RE broadloom carpet backing and Infinity RE modular
carpet backing both received a Platinum certification, the standard’s highest
rating.
The
American National Standards Institute recently approved the NSF 140 carpet
assessment standard as a final consensus-based standard, solidifying its status
as the premier environmental benchmark in the flooring community. These NSF 140
certifications come just months after all of Mannington Commercial’s inlaid
resilient flooring became the first to receive the NSF 332-2007 Draft Standard
Gold Certification for Resilient Flooring.
“A core
Mannington mission is to produce quality products that are also shown to be
environmentally preferable,” said Dave Kitts, Mannington’s vice president -
environment. “Continuing to earn certification under the rigorous NSF standards
is an honor that further validates our commitment to sustainability on the
industry stage. We are extremely proud of these achievements, and we look
forward to announcing more certified platforms for both soft and hard flooring
during 2009.”
NSF International is a not-for-profit,
non-governmental organization that is the leading global provider of public
health and safety risk management solutions. The NSF standards establish
performance requirements for public health and the environment, while
addressing the critical economic, environmental and social requirements needed
to create a more sustainable carpet product. The standard also provides
benchmarks for continual improvement and innovation within the building
industry. Several Mannington carpet products also have attained an
environmentally preferable NSF rating, certified to the NSF-140-2005
Sustainable Carpet Assessment Standard.
