Lowe's signs deal with Invista; only Big Box to offer Stainmaster carpet
February 25, 2010
Invista, maker of Stainmaster carpet fiber, announced Lowe’s
will become the only major home improvement retailer offering Stainmaster
carpet. The new, multi-year agreement will bring an expanded selection of
Stainmaster carpet to the more than 1,700 Lowe’s stores across the United States and Canada.
“This is a
win-win situation for consumers, INVISTA and Lowe’s,” said Steve Griffith,
Invista’s vp residential flooring segment. “Today’s consumers are seeking
products and retailers that deliver exceptional value, as well as brands they
know, love and trust. Our high-quality products and trusted Stainmaster brand
is a great fit with Lowe’s commitment to its customers.”
Since its
introduction in 1986, Stainmaster carpet has become the most recognized fiber
brand in the industry, with 89 percent aided brand awareness among consumers,
Invista noted.
“When
shopping for carpet, customers look for products that deliver durability,
repellency and soil resistance features,” added Patti Price, Lowe’s sr. vp
merchandising. “When our customers choose Stainmaster carpet, they know the
product will perform in their active household. To further help customers,
Lowe’s will feature a Stainmaster Carpet Gallery to help them choose the right
carpet and simplify the shopping experience.”
Invista
said it expects the alliance will enhance the Stainmaster brand with the help
of Lowe’s targeted advertising, merchandising and promotions. Outside the
home-center channel, Stainmaster carpet styles will continue to be offered by
local Stainmaster Flooring Centers and aligned dealers in the U.S. and Canada.
