Carpet Installation Training, R-I/C-I
Certification
Friday evening, 5:30-7:30 p.m., the CFI Installation Review
and demonstrations are presented in preparation for hands-on involvement on
Saturday at 7:30 a.m. The test for CFI Certification is offered at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone may attend the training event, but for those seeking the R-I and C-I
Certification, the written test is required. At the conclusion on Saturday,
installers who successfully demonstrate the requirements of the certification
are awarded this designation. The Saturday skills training in small groups
includes seaming of various types of carpet for the categories, power
stretching, pattern matching, stair upholstery, carpet backings and technical
information. A four-day entry-level training course and a stair upholstery
workshop are also available. For details, contact the CFI office.

Advanced Patterned, Woven Carpet
Workshop
A two-day skills workshop designed to introduce new techniques,
product knowledge and tools for the installation of patterned and woven
carpets. This course is an introduction to the various types of weaves and
recognized installation procedures. It is a working event installing carpets
that require additional expertise over cushion, direct-glue and double-glue
applications. The carpets require more time and installation skills that are
possessed by few in the field. The CFI Patterned Carpet Resource Manual is
distributed to all attendees. It is filled with 60 pages of techniques and
information that have proven to create a successful installation. The
“hands-on” training and information is necessary for commercial and residential
installers who are searching for installation techniques and solutions to
problems that surface in the field. It is also beneficial for those who work
with installers, sales representatives, manufacturers, cleaners and inspectors.
The workshop is also an excellent source to add to the communication skills
necessary to work in the field of patterned carpet.
Corrective Flooring Procedures
Workshop
Corrective Flooring Procedures Workshop is a first
“hands-on” course of this type presented for the industry. The numerous
techniques, tools and resources that will be made available for the attendees
have never been presented in this hands-on type of format. The workshop covers
corrective measures for carpet, laminate, ceramic, hardwood and resilient
flooring surfaces. The 2-1/2 days include carpet corrections of burns and spots
and restretch techniques. Laminate includes plank replacement, both glue and
click and the hot-melt corrective system. Ceramic includes individual tile
replacement, grout rework and hot-melt corrective system. Hardwood includes
pre-finished board replacement of glue-down and nail-down, touch-up using
stains and finishes and the hot-melt corrective system. The resilient section
includes corrective techniques for tears, burns and gouges. Many procedures are
