Focus on the Future: Some Things to Consider
We’ve all heard about ways to stay productive
during our “down time” – you know what I
am talking about - those times last fall and winter when you might not have
been as busy as usual due to the economic situation grasping the nation and,
for that matter, the world.

Getting Paid for Floor Prep
It’s easy to say, “We always
install according to Carpet & Rug Institute CRI-104 Commercial Installation
Standards.” The reality is that it is very tough to do when the amount and type
of floor prep is extensive and the owner doesn’t want to pay for what needs to
be done.

 | How to Repair Carpet Seams
I keep hearing about the economy from
installers. It seems some installers find it easy to blame a bad economy for
lack of business. When work is down, it
means you need to create some.

Installation Tips from the Pros – Part 1-- Carpet
All flooring installers have encountered
situations throughout their careers that demanded special and immediate
attention. Perhaps it was a problem that called for immediate resolution, or
perhaps the product arrived somewhat differently than expected. It may also have been an area that did not
match what was ordered or any number of situations in which the professional
installers always appear to find a way to make it work.

 | Non-Wet Adhesives
Picking up that trowel may be the worst idea you
ever had on some jobs. A government
client had a rush requirement to furnish and install 1,400 yards of broadloom,
action-back carpet in high security areas where there were large number of
heavy file cabinets and safes. At the
site inspection, which was limited in scope due to security, it appeared that
the direct glued broadloom would easily release from the tile-covered
substrate.

On-site temperature required 48 hours prior to
& during installation is usually between 65-95 degrees. It is maintained for at least 72 hours
following installation. The slab temperature shall never be less than 65
degrees. Inside temperature is NEVER to fall below 50 degrees to ensure quality
of installation.

White Paper: Flooring Underlayment Acoustics: Impact Insulation Classification
The importance of acoustics is often forgotten until a building is completed. However, the 2010 California Green Building Standards Code (CalGreen Code) which took effect January 1, 2011 made it mandatory for all new construction in California (non-residential and residential up to three stories) to comply with certain acoustical control standards.
