Last month was a big month for the installation trade. The industry held its first Installation Summit in Dallas, bringing together about 80 concerned professionals from all corners of the market looking to solve the problem of unqualified installers.
From what I’ve heard talking to commercial flooring contractors, business is for all intents and purposes back to a healthy level. The economic collapse and slow, inching recovery is now a receding memory.
The conversation is changing at trade shows around the value of qualified installers. Of the last five trade shows I’ve been in the past several months, a full three of them have featured seminars or discussions that posed the question: “How do we attract quality installers—and keep them?”
