KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- CFI arrives at the Los Angeles, Calif. Marriott Airport Hotel, July 25-29, to paint the town CFI burgundy. Billed as the educational event of the year, the numerous educational workshops will provide demonstrations and hands-on involvement throughout the event.

Executive Director Jim Walker says, “This year’s theme, ‘The Power of One,’ tells the CFI story of how each member has contributed to the growth of the organization. This theme will prevail throughout the weekend paying tribute to each ONE who has been responsible for the substantial membership CFI enjoys today. We invite all industry professionals to join with us in this educational event.”

The CFI Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday morning followed by tours of the manufacturing facilities of associate members Atlas, Tuftex-Shaw Mills and Monterey Carpet. For many of the members, this will be the first time to participate in this exciting opportunity to view the manufacturing process. On Wednesday evening the members will be free to join friends for a tour of Los Angeles.

The CFI – WFCA Leadership Conference, developed by Jim Walker and D. J. Harrington, begins at 8:00 Thursday morning. Chris Davis, CEO of the World Floor Covering Association, will also participate again this year as well as other guest speakers. WFCA sponsors the annual Leadership Conference, which provides an opportunity for those who are interested in adding or gaining new skills as leaders in the industry. Each year the attendance has grown and because of this, only CFI members may attend. If seating is available on July 16, those on the waiting list will be notified.

From 3:00-6:00 on Thursday, “Visit the Associates” provides the members with an opportunity to converse with the manufacturers of products and to view new tools, equipment and supplies. Many of the manufacturers also sponsor the annual CFI convention jacket that displays the names of their companies and is worn proudly by Installers nationwide.

Terry Dollinger has announced that the “CFI First Timer’s Welcome Reception” and meeting are scheduled Thursday evening. Tom Miller has scheduled the chapter meeting Thursday evening also. At 4:30 p.m., the CFI Master-II written test will be given. The evening is free to visit with friends. On Friday, the 8th CFI Educational Extravaganza begins with a workshop theme that is carried throughout the two days. Andrew Aufiero, chairman of the Convention Committee, “The two-hour workshops include the latest information available to the flooring community. We schedule many of our events a year in advance in order to bring the best knowledge to our attendees. We invite everyone to join us.”
