FIANA Convention
At the FIANA convention in St. Paul, Minn., Sept. 26-30, CFI was presented with funds to be used for its certification program.

“CFI has displayed that certification of installers does provide the industry with professionals that are concerned about the customer,” said FIANA President Jim Lee. “FIANA promotes professionalism and training in the same manner as CFI.”

Surfaces 2002
The Installation Assurance Program and the Installer Friendly Seal will sponsor the official Information Booth at Surfaces 2002 in Las Vegas, Jan. 30-Feb. 1. CFI will staff booths on the main level and across from the WFCA Installation Open. Retailers, architects and others will have the opportunity to learn more about the Installation Assurance Program and CFI.

CFI Certification
Bloomington, Ill. was the site of an outstanding October certification event, sponsored by Carpet Weavers, Mohawk Industries and Chapco Products, at which 62 installers were certified. Randall Green of Mohawk was instrumental in organizing the event, and Chapco’s Dave Nestor provided educational programs and supplies.

The Des Moines, Iowa chapter conducted a certification in October with CFI President Bob Gillespie conducting the review. There are certifications remaining in 2001 in Dayton, Ohio, Wichita, Kan. and Bloomington.

Carpet One of Kalamazoo, Mich. hosted another Carpet One Installation Training Day following by the CFI certification Sept. 13-15.

“This is the best thing we have offered our installers that will help us achieve customer satisfaction,” Owner Jack Vanderberg said. “The CFI team promotes pride and professionalism, which is so important to our company.”

NICFI, National Institute of Certified Floor Covering Inspectors
Jim Walker taught the “Installation for the Inspector” course for 79 inspectors in Dalton, Ga. in October. The inspectors identified carpet backings, seam problems and completed two written tests. They will be listed on the CFI web site and in the directory.

2002 Program
“The CFI certification program is scheduling now for 2002,” said CFI President Bob Gillespie. “Many dates are reserved a year in advance. It is important that dates be secured as early as possible. CFI has achieved growth during the last years in the installation field that was unheard of just a few short years ago. Today, professional installers are using this as a marketing tool in promoting their businesses. CFI invites the support of retailers, manufacturers and industry professionals, as well as the installer who strives for customer satisfaction.”
