The technologies sweeping the world wouldn't be so impressive if you could see the wires dangling from every angle.

While the world of the New Economy seems to be increasingly devoid of visible connections, the average residential environment isn’t quite ready to shake them, and unfortunately, it shows. Running wires (alarm, speaker, cable, phone, etc.) under carpet can be aggravating and time consuming. Securing wires to concrete floor can be particularly vexing. And after all your work, the wires telegraph through the carpet, leaving an unsightly lump.

Using a hot glue gun, run a small bead of glue along the edge of the tackless strip (photo 1). Immediately press the wires into the glue at the edge of the tackless as you move along the wall (photo 2). The hot glue will secure the wire to the edge of the strip as well as to the edge of gripper bar. This is quick, easy, and keeps the wires out of your way during the installation. (Note: Never run electric extension cords under carpet due to the very real danger of fire from a short.)
