Training efforts in the floor covering installation industry are increasing as manufacturers, dealers and contractors are making decisions to secure their future. They are reaching out to find the people who sincerely want to “raise the bar,” those designing programs to provide the highest degree of customer satisfaction while presenting profit centers to those who deliver. These are the folks who want to deliver by getting FIT.
There is no training or educational effort that is not worth the money and time spent. Whether the seminar is two hours or two days, it is the courage and commitment to educate and train that gets results. For the members of the FCICA, there is the FIT (Floorcovering Installation Training) program. Years of effort by the membership, and recognition of union training programs that are also supporting members, has led the FCICA to develop a program for workrooms that employ their own installers. In-house, classroom-type training sessions, which include hands-on learning, give new entrants to the trade the opportunity to follow a true career path. This not only increases customer satisfaction, but also gives the employee the prospect of having a rewarding career and a decent standard of living.
