Burt
Hirsch on China’s Great Wall.
Burt Hirsch, former president of AIM, and Macklanburg-Duncan international sales vp, has returned to the world of pins, nails and plywood. Several months ago, he received a call from an old friend at nail supplier AIM Tackless in Japan.
The friend wanted Hirsch’s help in setting up a tackless factory in China that involved setting up new high-speed American-made equipment, and establishing rigid quality control standards.
“Many containers have been shipped to U.S. distributors, and they have been well accepted,” says Hirsch. Rust-resistant Japanese nails are used along with tough five-ply Northern Asiatic plywood. Hirsch adds that he is looking forward to renewing many old acquaintances as a result of this new venture.
