Tile Contractors’ Association of America awarded Robert L. Smyth its third Giacomo DeLazzero Lifetime Achievement Award, the 98th annual convention held in San Francisco focusing on recognition of professional excellence.
Smyth has played an active role in the TCAA and tile industry, from 1963 when he was appointed as director of the Western States to present time serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Bob has served as TCAA President from 1974 to 1975, was active in the Seattle Tile Contractors’ Association and served as mentor of the Seattle Tile Contractors’ Health and Welfare Fund. He also chaired the Seattle area Joint Arbitration Board and as a Seattle Construction Council member, acted as liaison between the sub-contractors and contractor.
Also, the inaugural group of the Tile Contractor Companies who earned the Trowel of Excellence certification was recognized. The companies were Artisan Tile & Marble, Eugene G. Sackett, Port Morris Tile & Marble Corp., Selectile of California, Lippert Tile, Williams Tile & Marble and Shores Tile.
