BonaKemi takes the floor at university
November 1, 2006
Indoor air quality was a major concern for Appalachian State University and the main reason the BonaKemi GREENGUARD system was used recently to refinish the Alumni Center’s wood floors. Featuring Atomic dust containment systems and waterborne finishes, Bona Traffic’s resilient non-yellowing formula highlighted the natural color of the Maple floor and provided durability. The certified system served more than 85,000 alumni whose annual feet traffic across the 1,300 square foot floor contributed to its previous solvent-based finish “yellowing” over time.
With people spending more than 90 percent of time indoors, indoor air quality and hindered productivity have become important issues for today’s consumers and floor professionals.
Richard Conway, owner of All Wood Floorcraft, has relied on Bona systems since starting his business in 1993, and stated, “Not having dust or toxic fumes was a major consideration for the university. The Bona system has always been healthier for me and my customers.”
Bona’s third party certification by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute ensures that consumers health and welfare are protected during a floor refinishing project, such as Appalachian State’s. For more information about indoor air quality and GREENGUARD, visit www.greenguard.org.
