The 14th Annual Convention of the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI), set for Aug. 23-25 in Kansas City, Mo., is putting this year’s programs into high gear with its business-focused theme of “Change! Challenge! Choice.”

Kicking off the three-day event is the World Floor Covering Association-sponsored (WFCA) Leadership Conference that includes informative manufacturer presentations, presentations of several awards, various prizes, and installation workshops presented by industry leaders and veterans.

CFI executive director Jon Namba says, “The 2007 CFI Jacket sponsors present their products and technical assistance in a new format. This is a highlight of the weekend bringing firsthand information to attendees that improves their bottom line and introduces them to a variety of products, tools and installation supplies. Every year, we gain an enormous amount of information to take to our areas and share with the local installation professionals.”

Slated for the educational line-up are hands-on courses, including: “Tile Transitions,” with Andy Acher, Schluter-Systems; “Ceramic Tile Installation and Substrate Preparation,” with Dave Gobis, Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF); and Jon Namba, with the “CFI Business Skills Workshop”; “New Flooring Ideas and Installation,” with Tim Provence, Armstrong; “Exciting Rubber Products,” with Don Styka and Dick Schmidt.

CFI Associates will also have the opportunity to race for a full-page of advertising within the pages of the association’sThe CFI Professionalmagazine.

Additionally, among the awards that will be presented during the event are the Charles R. Gress Award (presented annually in honor of CFI Certified Installer #355 from Cumberland, Ohio, who gave above and beyond his talents, time and funds to further the cause of the CFI and professional installation); and the L. Fishman Chapter Achievement Award (given honor of Pat Fell to the chapter that presents the most educational events to improve the quality of flooring installation).
