The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) is launching a brand new program at Coverings 2008 that provides Level I certification for ceramic tile contractors and installers. Both the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) and Tile Council of North America (TCNA) are partnering with CTEF to support this long-awaited program, which “marks a new era in professionalism for tile contractors,” said Scott Carothers, CTEF executive director.
The CTEF Certification Program consists of an intensive 4-1/2 day program, beginning April 27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. It includes a 1-1/2-day cram course, followed by a half-day of classroom testing on Monday afternoon. Participants’ hands-on skills will be tested Tuesday through Thursday with installation projects that will be critiqued and graded by instructors.
Plans are also in the works for renewing Level I Certification and programs for Level II (Waterproofing & Mortar Shower Base) and Level III (Mortar Bed Floors & Complicated Layout and Design) Certification for 2009.
