Mannington Mills is gearing up for its annual Art is Cool
and Stand On A Better World Scholarship projects designed to help students in
the community. Entering its sixth year, the Art is Cool contest gives Salem
County, N.J.-based high school students a chance to showcase their artwork,
which is judged by a panel of Mannington design professionals. Additionally,
the fourth annual Standing On A Better World Scholarship program provides
financial assistance to Salem
County students looking
to go to college.
The
scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Salem County high schools who
have have shown a commitment to community service, and is funded entirely by
associate donations. The Scholarship Committee holds fund-raisers to support
the program, including Philly pretzel sales and Jeans Day, where associates pay
$5 for the privilege of wearing jeans to work on Mondays, Mannington said.
The Art is
Cool contest selects first and second place winners from a pool of original
artwork in each grade level (9th through 12th). The winning students are
recognized at a reception hosted by Keith Campbell, Mannington's chairman of
the board.
