The Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF) will offer tile installers the opportunity to become CTEF Certified Tile Installers (CTIs) at Coverings 2009 in Chicago, Ill. CTEF will be conducting the certification testing right on the showroom floor on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 21-22) at booth # 4104.

Daltile has recruited the majority of the candidates to be tested and has donated all of the materials necessary for the hands-on portion of CTI testing, including membranes, backer board, thin-set, grout and flexible sealants. In addition to earning the CTI designation, the three highest scoring installers will earn exclusive prizes.

The highest scoring tile installer will receive a Husqvarna 10” Tilematic Wet Saw (Model TS250X3). The 2nd highest scorer receives a Sigma 3D Tile Cutter. The 3rd highest scorer will receive a European Tile Masters Hole Saw Kit (Model DB14PC).

“Daltile is very eager to see the CTEF testing be very successful at Coverings 2009,” said Michael Kephart, general manager for the Midwest Region at Daltile in Elk Grove. “As a leader in our segment and in our market, we recognize the importance of a quality tile installation and fully support the CTEF and its CTI program, as well as the NTCA, TCNA, TCAA, MIA and the CTDA. Organizations like this benefit our customers and ultimately the industry as a whole.”

All participants will receive the following courtesy prizes: a tool and safety kit, supplied by Mapei, which includes safety goggles, hardhat, gloves, several notch trowels, floats and other hand tools; a Euro-style notch trowel supplied by European Tile Masters; and a canvas, mason-style tool bag from Schluter Systems.
