The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) presented its prestigious Ring of Honor Award during the association’s annual Total Solutions Conference in September in San Antonio, Texas.
NTCA made a special presentation of the single Ring of Honor award to Don Scott, president of David Allen Company on September 18, 2009. Award banquet attendees were treated to a video of the presentation, which was made on September 10th at the company headquarters in Raleigh, N.C., with Don being surrounded by friends and colleagues, including David Allen Company chairman and CEO Bob Roberson, and Joe Tarver, executive director emeritus of NTCA.
The Ring of Honor is a lifetime achievement award that recognized Scott’s service as NTCA president, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president, chairman of the board and chairman of the NTCA Technical Committee. Until his recent illness, Don served as chairman of the ASC A108 Committee and chairman of the U.S. Technically Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC -189 and was a member of the Tile Council of North America Handbook Committee.
Don began his career in tile 40 years ago as a part-time estimator while on summer vacation from his job as a math teacher. He was hooked, and has worked as a project manager, department manager, and vice president of operations. In 1999, he became president of David Allen Company. In addition to the Ring of Honor award given by Tarver on behalf of NTCA, Roberson also presented Don with a watch inscribed with the David Allen logo.
