In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Centiva will offer
a range of Green Week events in April.
Events
include: Centiva employees volunteering their time to the city of Florence,
Ala., to pick up trash during their Clean and Green day; a Green Week kick-off
day that will provide employees tips to make their lives more environmentally
friendly; and an employee plant tour highlighting all the production changes
that have been put into place for efficiency and sustainability.
Additionally,
Mike Finger, director of business development and sustainability, will teach an
environmental class to community school students. Each student will then write an essay on what
they can do to contribute to a better earth. The winner of the essay will
receive a prize, which will be announce and given on Earth Day.
The
resilient flooring maker is also sponsoring Shoals Earth, a community education
program to promote environmental awareness and advocacy in the Florence, Ala.,
area. Centiva is also sponsoring the local Florence, Ala.,
Litter Critter Contest. Local 3rd and 4th graders are asked to pick up trash
and make something unique. The first place winner will receive $50 and lunch
with Mayor Bobby E. Irons.
The company is also scheduled
to plant trees in local communities.
