Traditionally held in the spring, this year’s David Allen
Company Golf MS Tournament, which has benefited the local chapter of the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society for the past 15 years, will for the first
time be held in the fall.
The 16th
annual charity event will be held Friday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at the
Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club in Gainesville,
VA. Participants will partake in
a complete program of special events, including 18 holes of golf, lunch, and
raffle prizes, and will conclude with an awards banquet. Sponsorship
opportunities are still available. The tournament was first organized by
husband and wife, Phil and Kathy Halcomb. Phil is the Virginia Vice President
of the David Allen Company, which focuses on design and installation for
ceramic tile, marble, stone, terrazzo, and epoxy flooring. Kathy was diagnosed
with multiple sclerosis over 20 years ago.
In its
first year, the tournament raised $800 to support local programs and services
for people affected by MS. Over the years, the tournament has continued to
grow, as well as the work of the National Capital Chapter. In the past five
years alone, the tournament has raised over $290,000 to support the Chapter’s
work in the areas of counseling, education, employment, information and
referral, advocacy, and emergency financial assistance for individuals and
families affected by MS.
The cost of
registration is $325 for a single player and $1,300 for a foursome. For more information
about the golf tournament, sponsorship opportunities or to register, contact
Susan Allen at the David Allen Company at (703) 690-4422.
