The American Concrete Institute (ACI) said it is aiming to reduce the environmental impact of its Fall 2010 Convention, to be held Oct. 24-28, in Pittsburgh, Penn.  ACI will measure its landfill diversion rate in addition to participating in numerous other initiatives. A listing of these initiatives as well as recommendations attendees may follow may be found at www.aciconvention.org.

Preceding the convention, the “ACI Concrete Sustainability Forum III” will kick off five days of concrete related events and sessions emphasizing sustainability. The forum is third in a series designed to include attendees in discussion on future international action regarding sustainability in the concrete industry, as well as provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of the current world situation.

Many of the 30-plus technical sessions will cover the sustainability issues and opportunities affecting the concrete industry today.

In addition to sessions and events, attendees can acquire knowledge and discuss pertinent industry issues in committee meetings. ACI Committee 130, Sustainability of Concrete, will meet Oct. 25 and 26.
