Stanton Carpet Corp. has acquired the carpet wholesale
dealer distribution business of F. Schumacher & Co, which serves the
high-end of the market with patterned carpets, mainly in woven wool. This transaction
has no affect on Schumacher's other businesses, including the custom rug
business or any other Schumacher business. The announcement was made jointly by
Jonathan Cohen, coo of Stanton Carpet, and Bill Rambo, sr. vp of F. Schumacher
& Co.
Schumacher
carpet products will transition to be marketed exclusively under the Rosecore
brand name. The Stanton and Schumacher carpet design teams will collaborate to
design new products in the line with more moderate price points. The main focus
for Stanton is
to grow with the existing account base of Schumacher carpet, now Rosecore.
The new
Rosecore products will continue to be sold through its existing network of
sales agents and will be led full time by Bob Tucci, currently a vp with
Stanton. Rosecore will also be showing at Surfaces 2011. Stanton will assume all operational
responsibilities and re-locate the inventory to its Calhoun, Ga.-based
distribution center.
According
to Jonathan Cohen, Stanton's
coo, “We are really excited about this acquisition; the Schumacher carpet
products have a unique position in the very high style end of the market,
particularly with Wiltons. The products are very different from Stanton; the Rosecore
brand will act as a great complement to our existing assortment.”
“This arrangement
is a marriage of strengths that creates value for both companies and, most
importantly, for the customers of the Rosecore brand,” added Mason Morjikian,
vp of Schumacher's floor covering business.
