SAN ANGELO, Texas - A continued
increase in the demand for mohair carpet in 2011 has created a stabilized
situation for the first time in the 47-year history of the Mohair Council of
America.
The organization has become
self-sufficient, even when Angora goat inventory registered a decline in
numbers and mohair production, said MCA President Justin Stieler, of Kerrville.
Sales from Christoval Carpets, a
subsidiary of San Angelo-based Mohair Council of America, carried the
organization to record profits last year, Stieler said. Before entering the floor-covering business several years
ago, mohair was known only as a luxury item in the fashion
world. From the San Angelo Standard Times.
