Shaw Industries associates raised over $23,500 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon.

A team of 29 associates from Shaw Industries raised over $23,500 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. The Shaw team raised money from their friends, family, coworkers and Shaw customers to support St. Jude’s work.

“Shaw’s heart beats for St. Jude on a daily basis,” said Kathy Young, vice president of residential marketing at Shaw. “We were honored to participate as a gold level sponsor of the marathon to support St. Jude alongside our associates. We are grateful to support an organization that leads the way in fighting deadly diseases and finding the cure for childhood cancer.”
Composed of associates from all over the company from marketing, sales, plant production, quality, hard surfaces division and the technical division, many of the Shaw associates met for the first time at the marathon weekend. The team toured St. Jude and then ran 13.1 or 26.2 miles the next morning.
“I cried on almost every mile," said Dani Brock, director of retail marketing at Shaw. "When we ran through the hospital campus and in front of the Target House, patients and their families were stretching out their hands to give high-fives. They were holding signs saying things like ’Thank you for running for my life’ and ‘Jake's family says thank you.’ I was overwhelmed with emotion. I was so thankful to be there and to be running on the Shaw team.”
Shaw began working with St. Jude three years ago as the national flooring sponsor for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway program. The partnership continues to grow each year, expanding through product integration and events such as the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, the Butterfly Effect carpet tile collection by Patcraft, Cushion for St. Jude program and others.
