FCICA convention
Show goers visit with exhibitors during the FCICA tabletop trade show held during the annual convention.
Commercial flooring industry contractors, manufacturers, distributors and consultants gathered at the Flooring Contractors Association's (FCICA) annual convention—Riding the Wave of Success—in San Diego to learn, network and discuss initiatives for the floor covering industry.

"We had a record breaking number of attendees and a lot of insightful discussions," said Kim Oderkirk, FCICA's executive vice president. "I hope to keep the momentum going through mid-year 2015, which is all about partnering for the future, and Convention 2016, where we’ll go back to the basics."

Jim Walker, CEO of the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI), was inducted as an honorary member at the convention's business meeting and opening session. Also, individuals from FCICA's board with terms ending at the end of the 2014-2015 membership year were thanked for their service to the association including: Gerry Swift, chairman; Christopher Capobianco, immediate past chairman, and directors Mike Newberry (the incoming chairman), Kevin Phillips and Stephen Rubesch.

During the four-day convention, FCICA hosted five educational sessions including three from the Certified Installation Manager (CIM) program. Educational sessions included Financial Management: Budget vs. Actual, Handling Claims on the Jobsite, Closing Out the Job, Risk Management Culture—A Vision for Your Future and Contractor Equipment and Tools.
A tabletop trade show was held where attendees had the opportunity to learn about the latest and greatest products available. During the trade show, FCICA also held a silent auction where contractors were able to bid on products donated by members.
