Uzin Utz, the German parent of UFloor, held the grand opening of its first U.S. manufacturing facility on September 25 in Dover, Del.’s Garrison Oak Technical Park. Among the host of dignitaries joining President Dr. H. Werner Utz and Uzin Utz Manufacturing North America President Philipp Utz for the ceremony was Gov. Jack Markell, U.S. Senator Chris Coons and UFloor President Matthias Liebert.
The $13.5 million, 64,000-square-foot facility occupies about 11 acres and will produce 25,000 tons of floor leveling and patching compounds for the North American market, drawn from rock and stone quarries within 700 miles of Dover. By 2018, the company also plans to manufacture 15,000 tons of tile adhesives at the facility—which also includes a training center, research and development departments and administrative space.
