Laticrete's new Fracture Ban membrane is a high-performance, pliable, lightweight peel and stick membrane designed for use under thin-bed adhesives for ceramic tile, stone and other hard surface installations.
According to the company, this reinforced high-strength membrane performs as an anti-fracture and acoustical underlayment system that eliminates the transmission of stresses from the substrate while also dampening the transmission of impact and airborne noise through the floor.
The membrane comes in 40 mil and 90 mil thicknesses. Both thicknesses are tested to ANSI A118.12 (anti-fracture) and ANSI A118.13 (sound reduction) specifications. Additionally, both are suitable for almost any substrate including: concrete slabs, cement mortar beds, exterior glue plywood, precast floor panels, gypsum underlayments, radiant heated floors, ceramic tile, terrazzo, stone, self-leveling and patching compounds, backer board and existing VAT, VCT and vinyl floors.
Also available is Fracture Ban Primer, a concentrated, premium-quality, water-based primer designed to be applied prior to the installation of the membrane. This multi-purpose primer may be broom-, roller-, or spray-applied and can be used on the same range of substrates as the membrane.
