City Floor Supply (CFS) has officially opened their new Machine Repair Shop. While the hardwood floor distributor has been hard at work rebuilding after a fire leveled their headquarters in mid-2015, the Machine Repair Shop was on hold until they found a permanent location. City Floor Supply took occupancy of their new North American Headquarters in early 2016 and immediately began work on the new Machine Repair Shop build-out.

The new Machine Repair Shop, boasting more than 1,000 square feet of space, includes work benches, testing facilities and a machine shop. According to Joe Glavin, owner and national sales manager for CFS, “The Machine Repair Shop is truly a special part of what we do here at City Floor Supply. Not many distributors offer this level of service, and my father, Ed Glavin, is responsible for that. He helped us set up our original shop and taught us everything we know about machine repair.”

A skilled Westinghouse machinist who later taught Shop in the Philadelphia public school system, Edward Galvin knew his way around a Machine Shop. The elder Galvin was skilled at making parts for machines that were no longer manufactured and could build unique tools (jigs) for custom repairs. “Our Dad understood how to run a successful shop. Everything from the layout, to the equipment, to the systems required to get results – it all mattered. His vision, experience and expert knowledge are what helped set us apart from the very beginning. We lost Pop in February of 2016, but his legacy lives on. This new shop is what our father always envisioned. It is dedicated to his memory and a tribute to his legacy,” continued Glavin.

City Floor Supply’s repair technicians have more than 50 years of collective experience servicing flooring machines and equipment including nailers, sanders, edgers, and buffers from all the top manufactures including, Clarke American Sanders, Lägler, Bona, Galaxy, Kunzle & Tasin, Primatech, Bostitch, Powernail and Pro Team. The company also has a huge inventory of machine parts and can custom make parts that are no longer available.
