West Bloomfield, Mich. -- The Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA) continues its live online educational series with a webinar on Thursday, December 13 at 3 pm (EST). Don Styka, CIM, director of field services for Tarkett, will present ASTM History and the Standards Process with a live Q&A following the presentation.

Don Styka has worked in the flooring industry for 39 years and is currently the director of field services for Tarkett. He started his career as an installer prior to a 15-year career in floor covering distribution. He has been with Johnsonite Tarkett for the past 19 years. Throughout Don’s career he has been active in organizations that strive to provide education, training, and advancement opportunities to installation professionals.

He is currently active in several industry associations; serving as the chairman of the education committee for the Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association (FCICA) and a member of the CIM and strategic planning committees; membership chairman on the ASTM F06 Resilient Floor Coverings Committee and subcommittee chairman F06.10 on Terminology; board of director for the National Floor Covering Association of Canada (NFCA); member of the advisory council for the International Floor Covering Installers Association (CFI); and works closely with the International Standards & Training Alliance (INSTALL) supporting their curriculum reviews, training and educational platforms, and certification program.

Don is a member of the IICRC Consensus Body Committee developing the new S220 “Hard Surface Floor Covering Inspection Standard” and member of the RFMT Committee developing a new maintenance certification program. He recently completed FCICA’s Certified Installation Manager program, has an International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) “Grade 1 Concrete Slab Moisture Testing” Technical Certification, holds an Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) “Hard Floor Care” and “Resilient Floor Maintenance Technician” certification and is a CFI Master Installer.
