There are conventions for just about every trade out there, so, what about flooring and building material distributors? There’s a convention for them as well. The annual convention of the North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD), and North American Building Material Distribution Association (NBMDA), was held in New Orleans.

According to the convention’s website, more than 900 people from around the world attended for an opportunity to look at some of the latest products and develop themselves both personally and professionally.

Several speakers presented and attendees were able to attend seminars to receive education and ideas to improve their businesses. There was also a tradeshow where vendors were able to exhibit their products and connect with attendees. According to organizers, the show floor was a complete sell out for both flooring and building materials.

I had the opportunity to meet with several of the exhibitors that provide products to the distribution channel, including Elastilon, Traxx, Artistic Finishes, Roomvo, Futura Industries and Amaz Floors and Wagner. I’d like to give a big shout-out to them for providing products that make our installations look great.

Wagner’s award-winning Orion 950 for wood and concrete, for example, joins the rest of the Orion line of meters in being the first in the industry to provide true in-the-field calibration capability with the included On-Demand Calibrator. Jason and Ron at Wagner explained to me that calibrating the Orion 950 pinless meter at your location can easily be done in about 30 seconds whenever you want. Setting the Orion 950 apart from the rest of the line are new functions like Bluetooth connectivity to free smart device apps, ambient temperature/RH sensor, and Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) calculation.

I didn’t get to see everyone that I wanted to, so, to those of you whom I missed, we’ll catch up down the road. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2020.
