The Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA), convention held in Nashville, took place just days after a tornado ripped through surrounding areas, devastating homes and businesses in its path. Fortunately, the convention was not impacted, and things were able to move forward as planned.
In spite of the tornado, and as news about the coronavirus making headlines across the world, the convention still had a great turnout of members and manufacturer vendors. There were educational seminars along with hands-on demonstrations from vendors, and the robust trade show had close to 60 exhibitors. As always with tradeshows of this size, attendees were able to get a lot more face time with the manufacturer representatives.
It was a great opportunity for the attendees to network and rejuvenate for 2020, but there was also discussion about the implications of the COVID-19 virus that was having a global effect.
Who knew that just one week following the FCICA convention, our lives and businesses would be changed drastically?
As announcements continue to roll in of several tradeshows announcing cancellations or rescheduling, this is just one of the many impacts the virus has made on the U.S. and our industry. As we try to make sense of things, let’s try to be proactive in limiting the spread of the virus and get back to work so we can provide for our families.
My thoughts and prayers are with each of you as we go through these challenging times. Stay healthy, take care of your families, and we’ll get through this together.
