March is Women’s History Month, and this month we spotlight a woman leaving her mark on our industry. Amy Horton, owner of SeaGlass Flooring in Wilmington, North Carolina, is a former East Carolina University interior design major who realized that she wanted to be more hands-on with her business.

“I’ve learned that I’m not one of those girly girls who wants to just decorate everything,” Horton said. “I love to get my hands on things.” Luckily, she didn’t have to look too far to get her start: her family has a long history of building homes.

“I realized that flooring is really my focal point and my passion and where I wanted to go,” Horton said. “And I always knew I wanted to own my own business. So, once I nailed all that down, I was able to really say, ‘This is what I want to do, this is where I’m going to start.’”
