The very first tip anyone should take to heart about installing any flooring type is to find that piece of paper which is usually packed inside every box or roll of flooring called the instructions! It can’t be stressed enough that those documents are your insurance policy for a good and warranted installation. Luxury vinyl tile and plank are no exception and a successful install balances on the edge of whether you read the instructions carefully or not. Having said that, there are some important aspects, tips or tricks to installing luxury vinyl tile or plank that are worth elevating and need some special attention.
One of the most important aspects of a successful luxury vinyl tile or plank installation is first to pay very close attention to instructions relative to acclimating the flooring and installation materials a minimum of 48 hours in the environment in which they will be installed. It is even more important to acclimate these materials at the service temperature and conditions and not necessarily job site conditions. For example, proper acclimation would not be storing the flooring and adhesive on an unheated job site in fall or winter where the ambient temperature of the room might be below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Sure, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is within the stated application temperature ranges of many flooring adhesives but when it comes to vinyl plank and tile this is not a good idea.
