As we enter the fall season, I am both shocked and pleasantly surprised at how quickly the year seems to be moving. I think it’s safe to say that industry-wise, 2021 feels drastically different than 2020 did–in the best ways. With business closures, jobs on hold, travel stopped and shows cancelled, last year seemed to just drag on. Coming out of such a daunting year, we all seem to have a renewed appreciation and gusto for our industry, the work that we do and for each other. What’s that saying, you don’t realize how much you miss something until it’s gone? We’ll I’m certainly happy things are back (in some capacity anyway).
With just two months left in the year, I’m already looking ahead to 2022 and I hope that you are too. I’m optimistic that things will continue to get better and stronger for our industry. Sure, the disruption to the supply chain we are experiencing is certainly a pain, but from manufacturers to labor, we are all doing what we can to work around it. On the installation side of the business, the work is there and installers are in demand now more than ever. Capitalize on that. Find ways to maximize your businesses and skillset, so that you can seize as many opportunities as you can in the coming months and year.
In this month’s Director’s Perspective, I talk about my attendance at the Journal of Light Construction (JLC) LIVE show. Why would I attend a construction show? Well in addition to flooring industry events and expos, there are several related events that can be of benefit to you, your craft and your business. Be open to exploring all avenues when it comes to gaining more knowledge and expanding your network and let’s finish the year off strong.
