The International Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) held a R-1, residential 1, carpet certification at Hank's Specialties, a flooring and installation products wholesaler in Urbandale, Iowa on October 27 and 28. The class was led by instructors Alan Ellis, owner, Alan's Carpet & Floors, in Council Bluffs, Iowa and John Steier, owner, Steier Flooring, LLC, in Algona, Iowa. 

Ten students received training in carpet seaming, stretching carpet, pattern correction—identifying bow, skew and pattern elongation—and learning the “True Step” installation method. Students were graded on hand skills and given a written test, which included EPA and OSHA regulations.

"Thank you to our host Hank's Specialties for giving up space in the warehouse along with donations of some sundries to help with the class," said Steier. "All of the students left knowing more about their craft and were more confident in their skills."
