P.J. Arthur, CEO and founder, Natural Fiber Installer Certification (NFIC), started installing carpet with his father. That knowledge led to 50 plus years installing, and through NFIC, he seeks to help others do the same.

In week six of the FCEF installer program, the students switch gears to hardwood flooring installation led by Lenny Hall, a regional instructor for the NWFA.

At the halfway point in the FCEF installation program, the students are now learning to install carpet on stairs where they are challenged and pushed outside of their comfort zones. 

John Steier, owner, Steier Flooring in Algona, Iowa, possesses an obvious passion and enthusiasm for flooring that has carried him through a 20-year career in the flooring industry, but he did not necessarily start there.

In the fourth week of the FCEF installation program, the students began learning carpet installation, which will run for two weeks. 

The students participating in the FCEF 10-week installation program worked with sheet goods in week three. With the help of some donations from Congoleum, they installed their first sheet vinyl floor.

During week 2 of the FCEF Basic Installation Flooring Program, the students step out of the classroom and into the training space where they get hands-on experience learning to install laminate.
